It's not that i don't like Serana, because she's my most favourite character in the game and the most interesting although the latter fades away as quickly as the DLC ends. And though she essential, she still falls down really quickly, not to mention that she can hit you with any of her spells and infec you with sanguinare vampiris accidentaly. The ones when you are near or in a specific city or dwemer ruins/dungeons/Nordic tombs are good but she keeps repeating them and it becomes boring after hearing the same things lots of times. They could change it at the first place and give her few new lines when she comments it more positively. Why? After you cure Serana of vampirism nothing changes but ONLY her eyes, she keeps the same spells such as drain, still wears hood outdoors ( she even does in night. And tbh at this moment despite her personality being exceptional and the best comparing to another people who can accompany you ( yes, even Frea ) i would switch her for Kharjo. But after that she becomes a regular follower with the same options as in case of others. During the whole Dawnguard DLC story she seems unique, asks you about family, love and also you can talk with her about herself.
